Subject: Save the bike commuter tax benefit

PeopleForBikes

Dear PeopleForBikes supporter,

Over the weekend the U.S. Senate passed their version of a new tax bill that eliminates the $20-per-month bicycle commuter benefit. This is a tax-free reimbursement that employers can pay their employees for expenses related to bicycle commuting.

Please weigh in with your representatives and ask them to restore the bike commuter tax benefit in the final version of the new tax plan.

This modest reimbursement program has helped bike commuting grow by more than 50 percent nationwide during the last decade—easing road congestion, promoting good health, and supporting a crucial, economical mode of transportation for hardworking, low-income Americans.
