Where did you see this? Sure wish you could have gotten a photo at an angle suitable for reading. Would have enjoyed reading about the event.

Gardner and Fred, hard to tell from the photo but I think that's about
Bobby Walthour competing in some track races. He was maybe the biggest
name in cycling around the turn of the 20th century, originally from
Savannah but moved up to Atlanta in his teens; he worked as a bike
messenger while he was training and went on to race in most of the
major national races and Madison six-day events. Buck Peacock has a
good website on his life and career...

I have a presentation that I gave to the Atlanta Studies Meetup on the
history of bicycling in Atlanta (short: huge in the 1890s). I'm hoping
to get some slides together and will be happy to share them.
