Hi,
I've had three flat tires in the past couple of weeks. That's more than I had in several years of commuting a similar distance in Boston. Each flat has occurred at a different point in my commute (Mt Lookout to Children's Hosp all along the posted bike route). I've noticed a lot of broken glass and debris in the bike lanes along this route. How do I report that to the city? Should I use the same system we use to report burned out street lamps? Thanks,
Nick

That is one of the things I HATE about "bike lanes" If they are not
cleaned regularly they just collect the debris the cars push in them. The
"real" lanes are always much cleaner and safer. At least here in
Cincinnati.

I would consider reporting it like a pothole.  Street lamps are felt with by Duke energy i think.  In any case this phone number looks generic enough for your use. I've not gotten a flat on that stretch of road yet but i have a commuter bike with advertised puncture resistant tires.  Could it be a rim puncture? is your rim tape in good condition? (if this is stupid it's just something i've heard about).

  1. How do you report a pothole?

Citizens can call in their pothole concerns to Customer Service at 591-6000 or they may email their information to customerservice...@cincinnati-oh.gov Describe the size (width and depth), location (including cross streets, addresses, landmarks, or other identifiers) as well as in which lane the pothole is found.

Guys, on the subject of puncture resistance on commuter bikes, I strongly favor the slime tubes. I deliberately use a size that's borderline too big for my 28C tires, because that ensures that the tube stays THICK when pumped up. Thick walled tube plus slime equals darned close to puncture immunity. I'm not going to say something stupid that will jinx me... ;) winking but it's been a looong time since I had an issue in this department! (On my commuter! Other bikes, not so much...). Oh, and I cross the Reading Road train tracks twice a day too!

    Cheers,
            Mr C. :) happy
