Hello,
It looks like there hasn't been a post to this group in ages. For the sake of all of us who commute through Walnut Hills to the medical center area, is anyone aware of the timeline for all the construction projects related to the I-71 MLK interchange? It seems like the project keeps getting bigger as more and more streets and sidewalks are being torn up. Tearing up the roads has created some pretty rough patches that have even nearly shot items out of my basket. Is ther information on the City of Cincinnati web site somewhere?
Thanks
Nick Newman

Nick - The main project is an ODOT project - the schedule on their
website hasn't been very helpful but gives you something. There is a
public information name, number here:

https://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D08/Pages/I-71-MLK-Interchange-Project-Info.aspx

The resurfacing of Lincoln Ave (from Stanton to Victory Parkway?) is a
City project, probably finished Nov 2016. 513-352-3295

There are utility companies doing work on their own schedules and
building demolition, redevelopment is part of the mess too (i.e. Reading
at Lincoln).

The City hasn't posted anything on recommended routes for cyclists - but
the OKI bike route guide has some mapped alternates (Oak St). None of
them are very direct.

Jim,
Thanks for the great information. I didn't know where this information was online and through the city. Hopefully it will be done soon. I'm worried about what the changes to MLK viaduct with the addition of the I-71 on and off ramps will do to the bike route across I-71. Time will tell.

The bike facility (that is almost completed) is a wide shared path on
the north side of King from Burnet to Gilbert. The bike lanes will be
restored from Gilbert to the east.

The car traffic on King will probably double so it will be noisier, less
enjoyable. Crossing the new interstate ramps will be assisted by new
traffic signals but still.....f

Nothing certain about the future facility to the west. The Uptown
Consortium is aware of the need for a bikeway but the battle for space
is pretty intense between Burnet and Vine. The Connects Cincinnati Trail
Plan recently looked at this in detail and presented some ideas, talked
with Hospitals, Zoo, UC, etc.
