This coming week, the town of Chapel Hill will be conducting some open studio sessions to discuss the downtown mobility plan.
Why is this important:

The town is looking at the high traffic area of downtown to examine the existing conditions and future needs.  We believe that bikes and pedestrians should factor large in any downtown study as a downtown that is people friendly brings more people and more vibrancy than a corridor of cars.

There are four opportunities to participate:

All but one session is located 306 West Franklin St. Suite F (this is near Chimney and the Bicycle Chain)

  • Tuesday May 23rd at 4:00 – 5:30 PM
  • Also at the Hargraves Community Center (216 N. Roberson St) Tuesday May 23rd at 6:00-7:30 PM
  • Wednesday May 24th at 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Thursday May 25th at 5:00- 6:30 PM- “Reveal Event”

Here is the town explanation of the events and the page is here

Come join the Downtown Mobility Plan's project team during an open public studio! Toole Design will be actively drawing potential renditions of street designs, network changes, and mobility infrastructure. This study is focusing on the high traffic areas of Downtown Chapel Hill including Rosemary St, Franklin St, and Columbia St. The goal of the project is to analyze existing conditions of street design and mobility infrastructure and provide recommendations that improve Downtown mobility for everyone.
