Celebrate Bastille Day with us as we Ride Beautiful Howard County, Maryland. The ride starts at Schooley Mill Park. When you pull into the park, drive past the horse ring about 1/4 mile on the road, over a few speed bumps. Dead end into a nice parking area with shade trees, indoor bathrooms, and cold drink vending machines. Voila!
Ride has 20 and 33 mile options and is moderately hilly. There are 2 steeper hills in both rides but they are shaded, and there is quite a bit of shade along both routes. Beautiful smooth roads, and two rest stops on the long ride, and one on the short ride. Decision point is at mile 9.5. Lunch after will be a short five minute drive from the park, and several different options which include outdoor seating, will be available. Ice cream too!
You must wear a helmet during the ride and sign a waiver form. It will be a hot day. Remember to bring water, money and your health insurance card. Recommended gear includes cycling gloves, spare tire and pump.

DESSERT RECEPTION AND FILM
TUESDAY, JULY 16, 7:30 PM
Washington DC Jewish Community Center
1529 Sixteenth Street Northwest, Washington, DC
in second floor lobby
The great film critic Roger Ebert wrote: "Woody Allen has made [almost 50] movies; the best are "Annie Hall" (1976), "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1987), "Crimes and Misdemeanors" (1989) and "Match Point (2005)."
The DCJCC is offering us an opportunity to see Crimes and Misdemeanors, so let's take it. We'll have a dessert reception to socialize at 7:30 (hopefully on their beautiful steps if weather allows) and the film will take place at 8:45. (Maybe we can also plan a spot to meet earlier for those who want to do dinner.)
Everyone is responsible for buying their own tickets. Here’s the discounted link for $8 Bike and Brunch tickets:
http://thejdc.convio.net/site/Calendar?id=139681&view=Detail&s_promoCode=Bike
(The $8 tickets are also good for one showing of Manhattan at any point July 15-21).
This should be really fun. We would like to collect $2 at the reception to cover costs. (Bike and Brunch members do not have to pay the $2.)
