I handle the jerseys pretty much the same as Frank. Early on I was able
to get enough businesses to sponsor us that the jerseys were free, but
as the team got bigger I had to charge members "Dues". The businesses
knew that their money was going to buy jerseys and they go their logo on
the jersey (also varying in size by amount).
A few years ago, we decided that we wanted to go with a "standard
jersey" that we would wear every year to further save admin costs and
get more of my corporate dollars to the cause. My current riders pay
$30 towards a $55 jersey. I couldn't put sponsors names on the jersey
because they might change from year to year so I promised the sponsors
an ad in the local newspaper, listing all of their names. The local
paper even gave me a break on the cost as a charity.

Are the Pine Barrens Peddlers involved at all with the new bicycling safety
initiative taking place in Tabernacle? My read in the paper tells me that
the council is not all that aware of bicycling safety, nor the fact that
bicyclists have full rights to share the roads. It also would seem that
they do not know the difference between a "bike path" and a "bike lane". Do
you know if they have enlisted any help from the League of American
bicyclists in their efforts to "educate" the cyclists passing through town?
It seems to me that they should also make an effort to educate themselves
and the motorists. You can reply privately to fpl...@comcast.net. I would
have written privately but I did not see an email address for you.
