Open House at Luther Burbank’s Experiment Farm
(AKA Gold Ridge Farm)

When: April 26 & 27, Saturday & Sunday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Free.
What: Celebrate Spring by enjoying a free docent-led tour. Buy additions for your garden including Burbank originals while munching on freshly made apple fritters. Watch Rachael Carson reminisce about the trials and triumphs of her career as mother of the environmental movement. Ask Master Gardeners for advice. Find out about making your own worm bin, learn how to graft trees and how Luther Burbank improved and introduced over 800 new varieties of trees, shrubs, flowers and grains. Kids will learn the botanical techniques of plant breeding, enjoy watching bees in a sealed hive and take away a piece of rope they spun themselves on an antique gadget. For Sale: Heritage Jam made from the fruit of the Farm is available in our gift shop. Plants for sale include Burbank’s Kniphofia ‘Tower of Gold’, ‘Burbank’ Rose, Penstemon ‘Firebird’, Shasta Daisy ‘Becky’, Amarcrinum lily, Pillar rose ‘Apple Blossom’.
Where: Gold Ridge Farm is located above Burbank Heights and Orchards, just west of downtown Sebastopol. Turn into the Burbank Heights and Orchards senior housing complex at 7777 Bodega Ave. and you’ll find the Farm at the top of the hill. There is now on-site parking as well as Visitor parking at the Heights.
