The Universe Walk Coming to Open House at Burbank Farm This Weekend
Take a personal journey through time; exploring the universe from the initial Big Bang through the birth of our solar system to the month of April, 2013.
When: April 27 & 28, Saturday & Sunday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Free.
The Earth Elders of Sonoma County again bring the Universe Walk to Luther Burbank’s Experiment Farm. Panels hanging at eye-level along the paths illustrate the beginning of life, through photosynthesis, dinosaurs, early humans up to today. As you take the tour you might also discover the first green fruits of Chinese Quince trees, stand for a moment in a flurry of fruit tree blossoms, and find out the name of the fruit of the hawthorn. Burbank’s historic cottage will be open where the new exhibit displays the history of his Farm.
For Sale: Heritage Jam made from the fruit of the Farm is available in our gift shop. Plants for sale include Burbank’s Kniphofia ‘Tower of Gold’, ‘Burbank’ Rose, heirloom tomatoes, Penstemon ‘Firebird’, Shasta Daisy ‘Becky’, Amarcrinum lily, Pillar rose ‘Apple blossom’.
Where: Gold Ridge Farm is located above Burbank Heights and Orchards, just west of downtown Sebastopol on Bodega Ave. Turn into the Burbank Heights and Orchards senior housing complex at 7777 Bodega Ave. and you’ll find the Farm at the top of the hill. There is now on-site parking as well as Visitor parking at the Heights.
