Map was held ... now it's not ...

I few weeks ago I reinstalled Bike Tracker on my phone and I guess I didn't have the latest version.  Now I am on the latest version    1.1.48

Most of my rides start from home and I have the phone set to display the map first.  That happens at my house and it uses wifi.

For years it has remembered the map during the ride even if I didn't stay on the map screen.

Now, with the new version, if I go to the map screen, it won't show me the map unless I tell it to use data ... which I don't want to do.

The way it was, it only showed the outline of the route and that's fine - route in red, but turns green as I cover it - if I take a mini-detour, I can see where I'm supposed to be.

I don't think I'm imagining this.  I haven't specifically tested for it, but  I've done 3 rides and each time I told it not to use data ... so it doesn't show the map.

Has anyone else noticed this ?

I don't think this is anything to do with a BT setting ... but maybe I'm wrong ...

Please let me know
Regards

Well today,  I took particular notice of what was happening ... and it worked properly.
Perhaps there was a glitch in my phone for a couple of days.

So there is no problem.  The map opened at home on wifi, is remembered (or at least, the route itself, not the background detailed map) during the route so I can see where I am in relation to the route if I need to see it, without having to switch on data.

I'm glad you found a solution (so to speak). I'd just checked it out on a test phone here and except for asking if you were sure you wanted to use the map (just in case you weren't aware of how much data it could use), everything worked fine.

Just to clarify ... the map function actually seems to work better than on the previous Bike Tracker version.

It's true that if I select Map while away from home following a route, then Bike Tracker warns me it could use a lot of data if I continue.  Well I did continue, and it showed me the map which initially opened on my home wifi AND this Bike Tracker version shows me the map including the background  ie the map, not just the route outline as per the old version.

Not only that, but despite the warning, it uses no data because data was turned off, still turned off, and the app was specifically blocked from using data anyway.

Something I haven't tried, is moving the map once it appears ... so I don't know how much it "remembers" without data ... I'll find out in due course
