Saturday Ride

Hey Cedar Valley Folks,

 

Hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner, and had the chance to meet up with extended family. This was my 20^th Thanksgiving, and my 10^th as a US citizen. So long as good cycling folk such as yourselves will be around (and my wonderful family of course!), I am already looking forward to the next 20. J

 

I’m planning to ride Saturday morning, meeting at Cup of Joe at 9am. Distance and direction is flexible, depending who shows up. It is supposed to be warmer (high of 39F, wind 8mph WSW). Maybe take gravel to Parkersburg? This will not be a fast ride…..

Hey Spokes and others

It looks like the Twisted Spokes Racing Team is a go for 2014  - I got the team license renewed today.

So, after Dec. 1, 2013 you may renew or buy a new racing license for 2014.  As you probably know, if you are going to compete in the X National(for the 2013 racing season) you must have a new lic. for 2014 - go figure.

The application ask for a name of a race promoter in order to give out one free promoter license.  I didn't know there was such a thing.  Anyway i indicated Landon Beachy because of his connection with our State Gravel Championship race that we hold in his Kalona neighborhood.

As of this time we are going to promote that event and possibly two roller events.  Is there interest in getting behind others?

I hope that we are able to step up our presence in the local, state and national bike racing scene

possible areas:

-  reestablish active and consistent group rides in the CF/Waterloo area

-  reach out to new members

-  show up at the House of Pain - when that starts at Europa this winter

-  develop training races/clinics

-  more social activities

-  support our sponsors - Europa, Scott Bradfield's State farm agency, Chuck Landau's                Doughy Joey's/Waterloo Brown Bottle, The good Doctor Jeff Smith, The Other Place ...

-  to encourage the purchase of racing licenses

-  to utilize the Camp(formerly the scout camp) for mt biking

- TO RACE OUR BIKES
-
-

- Hopefully get some new leadership for the team.

I will be on my slooowww Fantom Cross Siete, with studded tires and Nexus 7 hub gear. You could probably even bring your fat bike and still be faster than me…..

Well done Thanksgiving then and on to the Next 20.  Great - thanks for the invitation.  I plan on riding - will see you at COJ by 9:00am.... Please give me just a little room on the 2 minute rule.  What kind of bike will you be riding??Thanks.
