Notably, the plan calls for parking for eight bikes in front of the
Clear Creek Coop at 710 East Main Street, a popular destination for
folks grocery shopping by bike. There will also be bike parking near
Readmore, Unwind Richmond, Tom's Deli, the Claypot Cafe, and other
destinations downtown.

The exact racks we will be getting are made with an inverted "U" design.
This style of rack can already be seen at the Cardinal Greenway
trailhead, as well as throughout downtown Bloomington, Indiana. The
racks are made in Indiana. A photo of the racks at the Cardinal Greenway
are here:

The proposal was supported by all the related departments of the City
government, as well as Center Center, the Urban Enterprise Association,
and numerous downtown businesses. I particularly want to thank Beth
Fields with Urban Enterprise Association for being a central figure
within the government moving this forward. From here she will be working
on funding and coordinating with contractors. Perhaps in about three
weeks we can have some idea of when the bike racks will be installed.
These locations are just the beginning of what is being planned. Already
there are discussions about adding bike racks in the Depot District, as
well as additional locations downtown, possibly near
Body&Sole/Whitewater Acupuncture and Civic Theatre, Phillip's Drugs and
Chase Bank.
If you have further questions about the bike rack projects, you are
welcome to post them here, or ask me directly. It's also a good time to
start thinking about what a "grand opening" event for the bike racks
might look like, if you'd like to help plan one.
