Cyclists Join Massive Ride to Re-Energize America
(Centerville, IN)-- Seventeen cyclists from around the United States
will be arriving in Centerville, IN on June 9 as they cycle to
Washington D.C. They are part of a nation-wide project called the Trek
to Re-Energize America. The Trek to Re-Energize America is a national
bike ride starting from participants’ home states and cycling to D.C.
Cyclists will meet up as they go and will talk with and listen to
communities across the country as they ride, all with the objective of
raising a popular voice in support of climate action. "We're convinced
climate change should not be a partisan issue, and we're excited to
talk to diverse communities across the nation to help spread that
message and garner support for a new green economy," said student Gabs
Alot. Upon arrival in D.C. riders will lobby their representatives for
strong, immediate action on issues like green jobs, renewable energy
solutions and the phase out of fossil fuels.

A meet and greet will be held for the cyclists at Cope Environmental
Center at 5:00PM on July 9. The group is very interested in learning
more about what communities in east central Indiana are doing to
promote sustainable initiatives in their businesses, homes,
organizations, and local governments. They then blog about the people
they meet and the communities they visit. Please come tell the group
about any great initiatives happening in the area!
