Come join over 700 riders at the annual
Reid Ride, July 28, 2012. Registration begins 6:30 a.m. for the 22 mile ride. Every $10 registration buys shoes for local children in need.
ReidRide is a fun event that has established a great reputation for both casual and frequent cyclists. The ride is open to all ages and fitness levels (those under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.) This is not a race, simply a fun ride and a way to become more active.
Riders may check in beginning at 6:30 a.m. in front of Reid Hospital’s Medical Office Building. Traffic monitors will answer questions and direct parking. The Ride has the partnership of local police, highway department, fire departments and EMS personnel.
At 7:30 a.m., participating cyclists will begin the 22-mile course. This year’s ride will repeat last year’s successful route by heading south on Chester Boulevard, turning onto A Street and then to West Main. Riders will then bike to Centerville via U.S. 40 where volunteers will provide water and encouragement at the halfway stop.
Participants will then strike north on Centerville Road to follow Webster Road to the Cardinal Greenway to Industries Road to make their way back to Reid.
ReidRide proceeds will provide new “Shoes for Kids.” In 2011, more than 2,000 pairs of shoes were distributed to children in need in East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio. Planners hope to exceed this number in 2012.
