MAY DAY EVENT - TOMORROW!! (May 2)

Just a reminder that we are hosting the 6th Annual MAY DAY BMEF Fundraiser party tomorrow night at Bike Pirates.

For the past 5 years we have hosted this event in collaboration with locals organizers of the Bicycle Messenger Emergency Fund. It is a huge fundraiser for them, and a great party! $20 entry gets you into the party and a bottomless beer cup.
There is also an amazing raffle not to be missed with lots of great bike gear and other items and gift certificate from local shops and services.

We will not be closing early, but will need the space closed PROMPTLY at 7pm to facilitate a swift set up for the event. Couriers may start arriving at 8pm once they've finished the Alley Cat, they the party doesn't officially start until 9pm.

we will need a handful of folks throughout the evening for: set up/tear down, security/safety rangers, general management and maintenance (cleaning up recycling, mopping up messes, garbage bins, checking bathrooms) and helping to work the bar. Generally they don't need help with the door or raffle.
If you are not volunteering we strongly urge you to attend - the money is going to a great cause - and buy lots of raffle tickets!!

I just wanted to suggest that the Bike Pirate volunteers make themselves visible during the event tonight. Either by wearing s Pirate T-shirt or perhaps a red/pink bandana or arm band?
It can be important for folks to know who they can speak to about issues and who is facilitating the space.

I'll bring a few bandanas for those helping out and willing to make themselves visible.
