Juniper Road: Cleveland Rd to ND

Is there any chance that Juniper will have bike lanes added? It's
being used by more cyclists AND more cars every day. From 7:30 AM to
8:30 AM it can be pretty solid with traffic. The newly paved Juniper
has not had the shoulder graded making an exit from the pavement risky.

I agree that this would be a huge improvement to this stretch of road (the new pavement is really nice too, just rode it yesterday).  I'm relatively new to civic action around biking infrastructure... what would be a few steps we could take to get the county closer to doing this?

This has been discussed extensively in the past. A Juniper bike route
probably will not happen in the near future. Juniper is a St. Joseph
County road and is the responsibility of the Jessica Clark, the St.
Joseph County Engineer. Also, it is indirectly the responsibility of
MACOG (the Michiana Area Council of Government). No one in either of
those organizations is opposed a Juniper bike route, but the route is
not yet in the bike plan. I have discussed this with MACOG, and am
hopeful that it will be added to the long range plan the next time the
plan is updated.

To advocate for making Juniper a bike route from Notre Dame to Darden
Road, contact Sandra Seanor at maco...@macog.com, and/or Jessica
Clark at 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., 7th Floor, South Bend, Indiana 46601.
