Is their any logical reason why over the counter Samples can not be created in Received state?

Hi All

Performance related question, potential light bulb moment, not thought through yet:

Use Case. Unregistered Samples arrive at the lab, including of all sampling data such as
Sampler, Date Sampled and Field results.

Does anything prevent the LIMS from doing AR Creation, Sampling and Receiving in one step? I.e. capture all the available data on the AR Create form and create the AR in Received state.

That eliminates the Sampling and Receiving workflow transitions that can be timeous with big ARs.

Functional drawbacks

We lose the Sampling transition in the audit trail but since it only refers to when the transition would've occurred in the system, it is the same as for Receive. The true DateTime sampled is captured on the AR, and no traceability is lost?

Any other

Technical drawbacks

Am distracted but cannot thinks of anything off-hand of any? Some reports using Sample Date dates may have to be reviewed. The Sampling transition datetime could maybe be lobbed at the logs too

Not all Samples arrive in this way, and standard AR Creation, Sampling and Receiving Workflow must be maintained.

Much of this is already in place, e.g. relaxed rules on actions previously only available in due states.

Devs please x-check

All feedback hugely appreciated. Bika Health?

Have a good weekend
