Bika Veterinary Setup and configuration Re: Analysis Request

Hi, hope  you don't mind me replying via the list, too little Open here lately - The leopard moves slowly for a reason?-)

 We are moving toward obtaining our vet council registration, and I would like to setup the LIMS to do that. However, I am battling to get some required information into the system. Below is required by the vet council

Veterinary? If you are keeping information for individual animals, you should consider Bika Health rather, with vets a s doctors, animals as patients. From the boiler plates

• Bika LIMS does chemistry and micro-bio very well, to ISO 17025 standards. Most labs only have to interface their instruments and maybe cut back on redundant functionality for a good fit. See the latest at Bika LIMS features and benefits and Instruments already interfaced. 
  
  
• Bika Health adds CLIA conformant health care functionality to Bika LIMS: Patients, Doctors and Caregivers, Referring Institutes and Clinical Cases. It is also suitable for veterinary settings - Animals as Patients, Vets as Doctors. Bika Health is typically interfaced with clinical instruments and EMR or hospital systems.
  

Most of what you mention below need to be populated in the LIMS setup, and then are then captured from lookups when you register Samples. In the now slightly dated manual, 4. Configuration

a	date sample was collected, date received, date completed, and date of release of results;

Sample date, Date received etc. are all variables and capture every time the sample transitions, date/time stamped in its log with the user name, 11. Workflow Basics

b	client information and geographical information;

Has to be populated in the Clients folder, DM me with a spreadsheet list and we can massage them into shape to be up[loaded, saving time on manual entries via the UI, 3. Clients and Contacts

c	animal identification as submitted, including species, breed, gender and age;

All as Patients in Bika Health, Create, View and Edit Patients

d	clinical history;

Bika Senaite Health does Case and Patient centric LIMS very well, has in fact plenty epidemiology features - you are dealing with African Horse Sickness né? Creating a Clinical Case

e	tests performed;

Jip that'll be available form the animal's Case and Test history

f	personnel doing the preparation and analysis;

Will be capture when the actions are completed, for the user logged in. Preparation, not sure what the state of Preparation workflow is currently in Bika Senaite. Else we make it another AS.

g	method followed, deviations if any, reasons for deviation and reasons why results can still be accepted;

Setup as Methods, and if deviated from , capture in the Analysis' remarks field. 4.6 Methods

h	consumables and reagents including name, batch number, and expiry date;

Highly desirable, and linking them on Worksheets to the Analyses they are being used for. Not currently available. We can poll for sharing costs among the labs requiring it. Plenty, and cannot be too difficult, wil be a copy of the machinery we currently use for Reference Definitions and Samples

Logging a feature request

i	results of quality control samples;

j	environmental conditions, if abnormal, or other critical information required by the standard operational procedure;

Populate in Setup, look up when Sample Registration

That should be the standard COA produced by the LIMS?

Hi All

Hi Lemoene.  Ah, I did not think of Bika Health. Will Bika LIMS be able to integrate with Bika Health? Then I only have to set up the instruments once.

That'll be ideal, but for one Bika LIMS Batches were morphed into Clinical Cases (a patient disease event - they may have more than one) in Bika Senaite Health We had an improvement request logged for bringing Batches back into Health next to Cases, can't find it now. Not too difficult/costly I always guess... to be investigated.

Seen in Biobanking requirements first, big batches _Studies, or Collections - of  Samples, some of which may be part of Cases taken up in more details.

To be properly thought through, there could be more exceptions

Please could you set us up on Bika Health?

Will dm demo creds. I see an opportunity to populate a Bika Vet demo..-)

Also remembered that we did some work for Equigerminal in Portugal, very breed focused, some genetics thrown in. The project petered out, some of the code lives on, notably the Abaxis VetScan VS2 and ScilVet abc instrument interfaces.
