During our discussion last week, someone (maybe Claire?) mentioned
Britol, RI. I see in Diane Rappaport's "New England Court Records"
that Massachusetts ceded the towns of Barrington, Bristol, Cumberland,
Little Compton, Tiverton and Warren to Rhode Island in 1747.
