bpalogin - username not set - mandrake 9.1

HI,

I have installed bpalogin v 2.0.2 on mandrake 9.1 but when i start it
and then check the syslog i get the following error message....

Critical error: username has not been set

the ethernet connection seems to be working fine (i can ping
www.bigpond.net.au (i get packets filtered which i assume is correct
?)

i would really appreciate any suggestions...
