Hi Biglee!

I am a M.E student in Anna Univ Chennai.. I used to do gymming during
my bachelors and had a break for a year or 2.. now I have joined a gym
in adayar and have been going there for 3 weeks. the instructor put me
on a strict low carb, no fat and high protein diet.. he told me to do
so to decrease my body fat. I had 15% body fat at the time of joining
and weighed 71.6kg then. My height is 167cm. Now after 3 weeks I lost
4kgs and my weight is 67.7kg. I feel good about the body fat I have
lost but I fear that I have lost my muscle amount too! my hands are
really thin now compared to 15 inches biceps(when pumped) I had
before.. Is there any way to gain muscles but lean muscles and one
more question I take ON 100% gold standard whey protein 1 scoop after
workout and half a scoup early morning before breakfast but a 2 lbs
tub costs Rs.1800 and is not going to last 20 days. Since I am still a
student I cant afford to spend so much. Is there anything cheaper and
as good? What about Stamin whey protein?

Yaz,

Its common to feel small while dieting

Once you reach low fat levels and you try to put on muscle you will
feel big.

And regarding whey protien - you can substitute them with boiled egg
whites too...

Stamin is one of the reliable sources of protein in india. I recommend
PRO 3 of stamin.. cos its much cheaper for you and has good protein
efficiency too

cheers

Thanks Biglee!

I have 6 boiled eggs whites a day.. 2 in the morning, 1 for lunch, 2
before workout and 1 for dinner..

I will buy Stamin Pro3 when my ON tube is over:)

Thanks again

Hi again!

I called up Stamin Nutraceuticals and they say that Pro3 is for weight
gaining as it has carbohydrates and you must take Super Whey for lean
muscles! I am confused now as I want to lose all my body fat, get 6
pack abs and gain lean muscles.

I have an enquiry regarding creatine.. I am feeling very tired because
of my diet and workouts.. I train 6 times a week. I do cardio and abs
one day and weight training the next day. Do I need to include
creatine in my diet?

Please tell me if there is anything missing in my diet..

my diet is-

Early morning- 1 glass warm water with half tsp honey and half tsp
lemon

morning- I might do crunches or a few pushups and drink 1/2 scoop whey
with water

Breakfast- 1 cup of oats with 2 boiled egg whites

after one hour- 1 orange

lunch- 2 chapathi, boiled vegetables and 1 boiled egg white

evening- 1 cup of sprouts

before workout- 2 boiled egg whites

after workout- 1 scoop whey with water

dinner- 1 apple and 1 boiled egg white

Thanks in advance!

Yaz,

I would be more happy if you post your queries in my discussion forum
(link given on top of the blog) (http://groups.google.com/group/biglee-
murali?pli=1)

PR) 3 has 10g of carbs and 80g of protein .
The company point of view - whey is costly and they earn more profit..

So do not worry and go for PRO 3. I use pro 3 upto 10 days prior to
contest.

creatine is a good addition but i recommend that you first get
familiarized with proper nutrition and then go for additional supps.

Aim correct: for gaining muscle you need more calories than what you
want and to lose fat you must eat less calories than what you want.

Pro bodybuilders can do both at the same time but it is better you
concentrate on one thing at a time.

I can not comment much on your diet as i do not know your height,
weight, measurments etc

For comments about the blog post, post it here. For specific queries
post it in forum so that everyone who has subscribed can get the
benefit from your question.

Thanks a ton Yaz...

Cheers

Yaz,

Also add some healthy nuts and seasonal fruits in your diet in order
to keep a good vitamin balance in this hot climate...

Yaz,

Right now you are around the ideal weight category.

So just keep high carb meals around your workout and minimize the
carbs in other parts of the day.

This way you can give some extra calories and utilize them perfectly

Hi again Biglee!

I am having one scoop of whey in the morning and one scoop of whey
after workout.. I am quite happy with my diet as I have been able to
reduce 6kgs in 3 and half weeks(71.6kg to 65.7kg).. but the problem is
I am finding it tough to lift weights and hence cant do my workouts
properly.. in my gym for 30 gym days they have asked me to do one day
cardio and abs and one day weights(all body parts 2 exercises eachfor
each muscle, 2 sets of exercise of 20 reps each!) .. they say its for
fat loss and increasing the strength..anyways I have just 8 days to go
with this workout and they say they will change it to 2 days a week of
cardio and the rest of the days 2 body parts and abs will be included
in that.. you asked me to take high carb meals around my workout..
could you suggest me what to have and about when.. I go to gym around
7.30pm.. the gym's manager today asked me to take 2 scoops of whey
instead of one after workout.. should I do that?.. but what I need is
something pre workout (acc to me).. I will tell u my improved diet..

my diet is-

Early morning- 1 glass warm water with half tsp honey and half tsp
lemon

morning- 1 scoop whey

Breakfast(10 am)- 1 cup of oats cooked in water with 2 boiled egg
whites

12pm- 1 sweet lime or half papaya

lunch(2pm)- 2 chapathi, sliced cucumber and carrots and 1 boiled egg
white

evening(4pm)- 1 cup of sprouts and 6 badam (either I have badam now or
at night)

before workout(7pm)- 2 boiled egg whites and a glass of green tea

after workout(9pm)t- 1 scoop whey with water

dinner(10pm)- 1 apple and 1 boiled egg white

Thanks in advance

Yaz,

see your diet is well placed but you can hit a little more protein in
each of them -- 3-4 egg whites in place or 1-2 egg whites is a good
choice.

Two scoops postworkout is a good idea bro but i believe in whole food.
So i might take in one scoop in post workout and in an hour i would
take 25-30g of protein from whole food before bed. supplement
absorption is fast. And when you sleep you need slow protein rite? So
that should be a good idea bro.

And regarding carbs - take 30-50g of oats on weight training days
alone bro...

All the best

cheers

Thanks again Biglee!

I will do that.. please tell me what you usually have after one hour
of workout when u say whole protein.. should I take sprouts again or
should I go for chicken or something? since I am a bachelor, not much
of cooking will be possible for me except for quick n easy cooking
meals..

yaz,

i perfectly understand that being a student and staying away from home
you wont be able to do much of cooking...

I usually have a big cup of brown rice or roti or oats with egg whites
and veggies an hour after my workout.

you can have any source of complete protein - like any white meat, egg
whites, lean red meat etc...

cheers,

Hi Biglee!

I took oats before weight training that day and the result was good..
I could lift more weights.. Thanks alot for ur advice.. Yesterday, I
bought 2.5kg of Stamin Pro 3 WEC following ur recommendation as my ON
tub is almost over. I had it yesterday night and it tasted pretty raw
and had grains in it and stuff.. but thats ok as it cost only Rs.1500
for 2.5kg! :) today morning I mixed half of it with ON and had it and
it tasted way better.. You are sure that you have tried this protein
personally rite?
it doesn't give that much of an energy boost after you drink it and I
feel sleepy. this protain is a mix of Whey, Egg and Casein and hence
the WEC with the name.
I will give you the details of what is written behind the Pro 3 tub.

Each 100gm provides:

K-Calories 400
Protein 80g
Carbohydrates 16g
Fat 2g
Vitamin C 100mg
Vitamin E 50mg
B12 100mcg
Zinc 20mg
Magnesium 200mg
Selenium 100mcg
L-Glutamine 500 mg
Ingerdients: Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein, Casein Protein, Egg
Protein, Maltodextrin, L-Glutamine, Malt Extract, Cocoa Powder,
Vitamins & Minerals

Thanks in advance,
Yaz

Yaz,

I have personally tried this stuff... or should i say that all my off
season this is my main part of protein supplementation...
This stuff definitely tastes raw and larger grains..... but i feel
that it lives up close to the protein claims on the label and the
protein is kind of good quality in it...
This is the best indian mix of protein you can get in the market....
