I just wanted you to know I have bought most of your plug-ins in the last few months. Your gear is truly amazing! Can't mix and master without them. Thanks so much for making these excellent tools. I am in the midst of some high-profile projects and am more than happy to spread the word.

One of the best compressors I've heard, period. The way it responds to an incoming signal and shapes dynamics removes any doubt about whether a plugin can sound as good or better than hardware. I use this extensively in my mixing and mastering sessions because it's dependable, has great flexibility with the non-linear 'soft' setting ratio and it's not uncommon that I will daisy chain a couple of these or run it in parallel to add weight to my mixes. A swiss-army knife of a unit, you need to try it out, the results will speak for themselves.

At the heart of the Vertigo Mix Satellite plug-in are two very different distortion generators, each sporting independent Mid/Side functionality allowing you to target every aspect of your mix or master.

The 2nd Harmonic FET Crusher produces rich, warm tube-like saturation and distortion, generating pure second harmonics. Use it for cohesion, or crank it up for fat, rich distortion. In Mid mode, it's great for adding solidity to the center of a stereo mix.

Two sophisticated coloration generators ranging from subtle saturation to berserk distortion, recreated from the Vertigo VSM-2 hardware and authenticated by Vertigo Sound
Pure 2nd Harmonic FET Crusher for warm, rich, saturation or distortion
Pure 3rd Harmonic Zener Blender for bright, clear, exciter-like saturation or distortion
Crusher and Blender can each be applied to specific signal frequency ranges and then further filtered using the Shape control
Apply a custom balance of harmonics using the THD Mixer or switch between parallel and serial configuration
Each circuit is switchable between Soft or Hard clipping
M/S Decoding and Encoding for each circuit allows processing of entire stereo signal, or Mid or Side stereo channels
Solo the Crusher and/or Blender in isolation, or Mid and Side stereo channels in isolation using the Monitoring section
Requires UAD-2 DSP Accelerator Card or Apollo Interface, available from authorized dealers worldwide

Captures the sonic character of the original hardware, providing professional results in a plug-in format. The combination of second and third harmonic distortion, along with filters and mid-side processing, offers a wide range of creative possibilities.

I really appreciate this plug that I bought after being convince by the seeing demo on UAD Website (I do not know the original hardware) . It is an incredible versatile tool that I use on all my mastering Chanel in order add harmonics, that will highlight the song. Very good also on guitar track for adding your personal sauce !

used Vertigo vsm-3 in my latest mix and am very happy with how good and versatile plugins it is, very good for example drums, bass, gtr, vocal and much more. Is a plugin that should be in every studio ...

I've been demoing this plugin for a week now and I'm very impressed with versatility and fabulous tonal colors you can add with this monster. I tried other harmonic generators and they are either to simple or to complex. This one is right on the money for me. I'm going to buy it with upcoming sale for sure.
My only remark is that this plugin is incorrectly listed in the MASTERING section of the UAD page. I use it to mix and master. It's way more versatile than that. It's super on bass, acoustic guitars, drum, percussion and even vocals sometimes. A must have!.

Well, I trust Joe, he is the guru. So I broke all the rules I made for myself and decided to go a try that mysterious EQ. Saying to myself it will be the last one, ever, ever, ever. And this EQ is the Vertigo Sound VSE-2 plugin.

Little tip: What I love about this EQ is how the Filter and the Low Band work wonderfully well with together. Doing broad low boosts in conjunction with a filtering of the desired frequency makes some really tight and precise boosts in the low end with is a critical area for boosting ! Add to that a little bit of THD with the Harmonics and you got some very nice low-end. Perfect for getting the bass or the kick to cut through the mix easily. This even works very well on the Mixbus.

This EQ definitely worth a try. I know you are reading this everywhere on every EQ release, but if even if I am new here, trust me, I am not saying that a lot. There are a lot of good or very good sounding EQ in the plugins world. But some are excellent sounding, and the Vertigo Sound VSE-2 is one of them.

The Vertigo Sound VSM-3 is a powerful tone and color box, saturator, and distortion unit with two unique circuitry options. Add warmth and richness to your mixes using the 2nd Harmonic FET Crusher, or brightness and detail with the 3rd Harmonic Zener Blender. You also have the option of mixing the Crusher and Blender output together.

The Vertigo VSM-2 hardware unit allows you to color, saturate, enhance, compress, limit, or distort sounds. Developed by Brainworx, the Vertigo VSM-3 plugin delivers the beloved characteristics of the VSM-2 within your DAW, capturing all of the coveted harmonic generation and unique settings of the original hardware.

I let you judge , personnally it took me few minutes to fall in love, waited two dayz ( for honey moon washing) , recorded a video , still loved it and then during editing was smiling like a kid , loving it even more ahahah

Not sure if I could share mine since it is iLok. I believe if you commit to posting a video, they will refresh your demo once more.

This video on VSE-4 is super insightful! I am travelling now, and use headphones (Neumann NDH30). Now I am hearing and noticing more stuff that you point out in the videos.. Gotta rewatch a few oldies.

Zo - Thanks for the great review and video. I always liked you videos. I wanted to get VSE-4 when it came out in 2021, but there were other plugins ahead of it. I wanted to get it on plugin alliance, but Vertigo moved future plugins to their site. I think I got the 2 and 3 for $29 to $39 each. I was shocked at the new price point! I love the saturation in the 4.

They released the VSM 4 witch another thing like the VSM 3 and the VSE 2 witch is more a puletec style EQ mastering grad (sounds pristine and superb , i specially love the mids in this when ya want to push something in your face in a mix !!)

All those things indicate that your in presence of a tools well balanced and thinked .... well implemented (algo is nothing with a gui that let you move sonically ) and imho fairly priced ...

The 29 $ price trap is dangerous imho we tend to collect (and i plaid guilty) , without mastering tools and without knowing we reached some level of expense that are way bigger than going for 149 $ type of plugins here and there ...

Sometimes those 149 $ don't desreve their price , but in the Vertigo case , just a look in my session will give you a response ....those are pro tools and it will avoid you guyz to spend in 10 x other plugins !!! do the math ...

For exemple the VSC 3 compressor , can handle any type of scenarios , more capable than a sll bus comp thks to its rms options , dual operation and extra controls ..and value ..... from busses , to vocals ect ... it can be you're only bus comp here ....

Do you have this behavior of having this disparities on what real views you make and what is displayed , (i saw people complaining about this in non aligned media , but for my channel , i can't see why (unless they use what i watch as a reference lol in that case i'm in big trouble lol ) )

This is a wicked plugin. I use Exact Audio Copy to rip mix CDs to one big mp3 file. At the same time, it creates a cue sheet which contains all the track information for the ripped mix. If you play the mp3 in Winamp, you'll get one long track, but with the mp3cue plugin you'll get information about each separate track and you'll be also be able to skip between tracks. It looks like this when fully expanded: -

Even though the mix is one big 101MB mp3, you can still see all the separate tracks in the bottom window and skip between them. You can also change the skins and views. I have mine like this most of the time: -

The advantage of using the cue sheet method is that there are no gaps at all between the tracks because the CD is ripped as one long file. Winamp with this plugin and foobar2000 read the cue sheet information so the mp3 appears as if it's separate tracks. You can also burn a disc image in Nero by selecting the cue file and the mix will be split into separate tracks, again with no gaps.

It's the latest one mate. Version 5.08e Pro. I use the classic skin which makes about 10MB of difference to the memory usage. The mp3cue plugin adds a bit to it, but it's still only 2.5MB in total when playing a file.

In this video I discuss the differences between the Vertigo VSM-2 hardware and the VSM-3 plugin. The plugin matches quite well and when you consider one is priced at $29 in a sale and the hardware is priced at 6800 you have to ask yourself is there really that much of a difference to warrant paying 300 times more? You be the judge. I know as soon as I heard it I had to buy the hardware for one very simple reason.
