As a convenience, Symfony also provides support for Gmail (composerrequire symfony/google-mailer), but this should not be used inproduction. In development, you should probably use an email catcher instead. Note that most supported providers also offer afree tier.

The MAILER_DSN isn't a real address: it's a convenient format thatoffloads most of the configuration work to mailer. The sendgrid schemeactivates the SendGrid provider that you just installed, which knows all abouthow to deliver messages via SendGrid. The only part you need to change is theKEY placeholder.

Some mailer providers change the Message-Id when sending the email. ThegetMessageId() method from SentMessage always returns the definitiveID of the message (being the original random ID generated by Symfony or thenew ID generated by the mailer provider).

Start by following the Messenger documentation and configuringa transport. Once everything is set up, when you call $mailer->send(), aSendEmailMessage message willbe dispatched through the default message bus (messenger.default_bus). Assumingyou have a transport called async, you can route the message there:

When sending an email asynchronously, its instance must be serializable. This is always the case for Emailinstances, but when sending aTemplatedEmail, you must ensure thatthe context is serializable. If you have non-serializable variables, like Doctrine entities, either replace them with more specific variables orrender the email before calling $mailer->send($email):

When developing locally, it is recommended to use an email catcher. If you haveenabled Docker support via Symfony recipes, an email catcher is automaticallyconfigured. In addition, if you are using the Symfony local web server, the mailer DSN is automatically exposed via thesymfony binary Docker integration.

While developing (or testing), you may want to disable delivery of messagesentirely. You can do this by using null://null as the mailer DSN, either inyour .env configuration files or inthe mailer configuration file (e.g. in the dev or test environments):

Symfony provides lots of built-in mailer assertionsto functionally test that an email was sent, its contents or headers, etc. They are available in test classes extendingKernelTestCase or when usingthe MailerAssertionsTrait:

If your controller returns a redirect response after sending the email, makesure to have your client not follow redirects. The kernel is rebooted afterfollowing the redirection and the message will be lost from the mailer eventhandler.

Any key-value pair passed to with just becomes the params for the maileraction. So with(user: @user, account: @user.account) makes params[:user] andparams[:account] available in the mailer action. Just like controllers haveparams.

Mailer views are located in the app/views/name_of_mailer_class directory. Thespecific mailer view is known to the class because its name is the same as themailer method. In our example from above, our mailer view for thewelcome_email method will be in app/views/user_mailer/welcome_email.html.erbfor the HTML version and welcome_email.text.erb for the plain text version.

Just like controller views, you can also have mailer layouts. The layout nameneeds to be the same as your mailer, such as user_mailer.html.erb anduser_mailer.text.erb to be automatically recognized by your mailer as alayout.

Action Mailer previews provide a way to see how emails look by visiting aspecial URL that renders them. In the above example, the preview class forUserMailer should be named UserMailerPreview and located intest/mailers/previews/user_mailer_preview.rb. To see the preview ofwelcome_email, implement a method that has the same name and callUserMailer.welcome_email:

If you change something in app/views/user_mailer/welcome_email.html.erbor the mailer itself, it'll automatically reload and render it so you canvisually see the new style instantly. A list of previews are also availablein :3000/rails/mailers.

By default, these preview classes live in test/mailers/previews.This can be configured using the preview_paths option. For example, if youwant to add lib/mailer_previews to it, you can configure it inconfig/application.rb:

Action Mailer will automatically send multipart emails if you have differenttemplates for the same action. So, for our UserMailer example, if you havewelcome_email.text.erb and welcome_email.html.erb inapp/views/user_mailer, Action Mailer will automatically send a multipart emailwith the HTML and text versions setup as different parts.

There are also some Action Mailer-specific helper methods available inActionMailer::MailHelper. For example, these allow accessing the mailerinstance from your view with mailer, and accessing the message as message:

Sophos tells the internal recipient that the external recipient (no-reply) cannot be reached. This NDR generates again an out of office notification that should be sent to "mailer...@mail.company.com" which of course is not routable by sophos.

I am wondering what is a clean and conventional way for setting instance variables in Mailers? Currently, I have re-defined the initialize method in Mailer and subsequently overwrite certain instance variables when needed in any mailers that inherit from Mailer.

The Mailer Scorecard provides a dashboard view of the results of the letter and flat mailing activity with the Postal Service over a calendar month. This view is available to both the mailer who submitted the electronic documentation for the mailing (eDoc submitter) and the mail owner/mail preparer.

For each of the initiatives a mailer is enrolled in, the Mailer Scorecard provides a dashboard view of all mailings submitted in a calendar month [NOTE: the term "mailer" is used to refer to the electronic documentation (eDoc) submitter who could be either the Mail Owner or the Mail Service Preparer].

Reports on the Mailer Scorecard provide a summary of mail preparation quality and a drill down view that allows mailers to view detailed error and warning information. The Scorecard is accessible through the Business Customer Gateway (BCG) and provides views for both Mail Owners and Mail Service Providers.

The Postal Service provides mailers with access to a mail quality tool, the Mailer Scorecard, which displays a dashboard view of the results of the letter and flat mailing activity within each of these initiatives over a calendar month.

To participate in Full-Service Intelligent Mail, mailers must submit information electronically. This computer-consumable version replaces existing hardcopies and includes the following: postage statement and qualification report.

The Mailer Identifier (MID) is a field within the Intelligent Mail barcode that is used to identify mailers. MIDs are assigned by the USPS to a Mail Owner, Mailing Agent or other service providers who request them.

The rigorous work of inventing Amazon's new recyclable paper padded mailer required the ingenuity of scientists, engineers, and technicians at Amazon's packaging and materials lab. These experts, who obsess over the tiniest of details, have been able to capitalize on a curious reaction that happens when you heat a form of glue, similar to what's used to make cardboard boxes.

The Amazon associates who pick, pack, and ship customer orders are encouraged to speak up when they see something that should be improved. They quickly flagged a major difference between the new paper padded mailers and the Jiffy mailers (paper laminated to bubble wrap) they were accustomed to using. The new mailers were stiffer, making them a little harder to open and more time-consuming to pack.

Rather than send each follow-up design into the fulfillment centers for feedback, the team 3D-printed an object to simulate a packer's finger opening the mailer. This made the testing systematic. "There was no flexible-mailer-openability test method standard in existence," said Vas Obeyesekere, a senior industrial designer on the packaging team. "We had to invent a new test method."

They conducted a range of flexibility tests on each new version. "This rapid kind of innovation allowed us to immediately start testing new mailer designs to make something recyclable for our customers and easier to use for our associates," said Obeyesekere.

In the end, it wasn't the cushioning material that needed to change; it was the way it was applied. The original designs distributed the cushioning evenly throughout the mailer. Working together, Amazonians at the materials and packaging lab discovered the key to giving associates the more flexible mailers they needed. They devised a new pattern of cushioning material that creates voids, forming a natural flex point without sacrificing the mailer's overall effectiveness at protecting orders.

The reworked design passed lab tests and got a thumbs up from associates. Now, more than 100 million of the new mailers have been shipped to customers, reducing waste, saving fuel, and offering the same recyclability as Amazon's iconic box, without taking up nearly as much space in a recycling bin.

Designed to make sure your soft goods get to where they need to go, the EverTec Non-Cushioned Mailer is the curbside recyclable alternative to manually-packed poly mailers. This lightweight, double-walled all paper mailer stands up to operational stressors while still being easy-to-pack, easy-to-ship and easy-to-recycle. So you can deliver on your operational AND sustainability goals.

I original bought 6x6 cardboard mailers, but the USPS is being a butt about it being square, calling it oversize, even though it fits in the size requirements ebay listed. I would like to find a rigid/cardboard mailer that the USPS will allow to go without fuss. What are you having luck with??

Cards under $10 I chop up binder pages. Put the card in the binder page with 2 or 3 worthless cards on either side of it. Then I tape that inside a plain white envelope. Cards $10-$15, in a top loader, taped in a plain white envelope. Cards $15-$20 I use cardboard mailers with a top loader. I use the size ebay suggested, but I bought them on Amazon where they were cheaper. Those cardboard mailers are also good size for a lot of different card supplies as packages if you sell supplies as well.
