Dear Friends,

In the year 2009, we endeavour to bring the best technical topics and
speakers for the benefit of the Open Source Twincling community.

For Saturday, July 11, a session on 'Cloud computing' has been planned.

As you are aware, Cloud computing is a very important topic currently
in the industry. You might have already hear of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

Ms. Namita Iyer will be the share insights on 'Architectural and
implementation' aspects of cloud computing.

Abstract

Cloud computing is a model of computing which is location agnostic,
dynamically scalable and virtualized resources are provided as a
service over the internet. IaaS, SaaS and PaaS are the commonly
associated buzzwords.

Key considerations for Cloud computing infrastructures, storage and
security aspects will be highlighted, in addition to strategies for
architecting your application.

In addition to architectural aspects of Cloud computing, this session
will also focus on "Eucalyptus" project ! Eucalyptus is an open-source
infrastructure for the implementation of cloud computing on computer
clusters.

Eucalyptus or "Elastic Utility Computing Architecture for Linking Your
Programs To Useful Systems" is an Open Source project available under
BSD license. The current interface is compatible with Amazon Web
Services cloud computing interface. The session will involve a live
demo of the Cloud computing infrastructure and service applications.

Speaker

Ms. Namita Iyer, an experienced industry professional with more than
11 yrs of experience will be conducting the session.

She has worked with Infosys, Veritas, Recombinant, CommVault and
Brocade. She is also the SIG chair of BigCloud, a community of
professionals focussed on various aspects of cloud computing. She is
an enterprise storage expert and has worked at the various layers of
the storage and virtualization infrastructure.

She spends most of her day doing systems level programming, developing
firmware or troubleshooting board bring up. She is a member of IEEE
since yr 2000, life member of Institution of Engineers (IEI) and
Computer Society of India (CSI).
