Hi everyone,

A quick note for users of Mac OS X and Google Chrome.

Recently, we received some reports that when Google Chrome is updating but not yet restarted, Mac OS X may not recognize the Chrome process has permission to share screen (which Mac OS X calls "record screen") and prompt the user again to grant permissions.

If your teachers see this message, or error 1136 permissions denied, they can restore permissions by exiting Chrome (allowing the upgrade to finish), and re-granting Chrome's permissions in the System Preferences panel.

Google is tracking this issue as it affects all web-based applications (such as Google Meets) that share screens within the browser using WebRTC

There is active work on the above issue and, given its scope, we expect they will expedite a solution.

Regards,... Fred

Hi everyone,

The issue has been marked as closed by Google

If you are running Chrome #99.0.4844.84 (or later) on Mac OS X, you should not have to regrant Chrome's permissions in the System Preferences panel

Regards,... Fred
