How to protect downloading bbb recorded sessions

Hi Team,
When the recorded session is played, it has an option to download the video content using .webm format which in turn can be converted to MP4 format. How can I set the recorded sessions NOT to be DOWNLOADED by the users? I really appreciate you help.

Are you a developer?  It might be possible to modify the HTML5 pages for playback to hide the download button. 

I googled for

Even if you hide that button you can still right-click and save or go into the DOM and copy the URL on the <video> tag. It's actually rather difficult to completely stop the ability to download it because the computer has to download it to play it at all. If someone really wants the video they could also just record their screen and turn it into their own video.

Do you have anyone on your team who is a developer?  It would be difficult for you to implement the changes if you have no development experience.

We don't have step-by-step on how to do this.  

But a developer who is familiar with JavaScript and HTML5 could take a shot at making the modifications.  They would need to understand the record and playback architecture for BigBlueButton.  A good place to start is here

Hi Fred,
I can't see this button on my recordings playback, and I would like to have this option enabled for my students.
How can I enable my BBB (I'm running build 598) to show the download button? My BBB sessions are generated by Moodle.

Hi German,

Not sure how to enable it.  It would only apply to the video portion of the recording (which contains the webcams + screen share + audio).  \

If your session had a screen share or webcam, BigBlueButton will create a video file as part of the playback.  You can right-click on the video (lower right-hand corner of the playback) and choose "Save Video As".

There isn't a way yet to download the entire recording as a video.  That's on our road map, see
