Hello BBB Team,

Greetings for the day !!

We have a setup of BBB conference server on AWS server.

We are trying to test scenario where user is joining conference by selecting "Listen Only". Here, User is able to join conference but after that it immediately gives error as per attached screenshot. Backend log is showing error as "MEDIA_SERVER_REQUEST_TIMEOUT" even though kurento media server is running. Below is sample log for the same.

"{"connectionId":"25daac87-0e50-48cb-8b0e-09ca17e03d90","error":{"code":"2003","id":"error","reason":"MEDIA_SERVER_REQUEST_TIMEOUT","role":"recv","streamId":"w_lows4epyixz4","type":"audio"},"label":"fullaudio","level":"error","meetingId":"33e923439f00ebcecd4bd6b3aa3327095be2ff28-1720764656100","message":"Audio session: start failure","role":"recv","roomId":"348191387","timestamp":"2024-07-12T06:11:43.336Z","userId":"w_lows4epyixz4"}
{"errorCode":"2003","label":"fullaudio","level":"error","message":"Audio session: start failure","sessionMetadata":{"connectionId":"25daac87-0e50-48cb-8b0e-09ca17e03d90","meetingId":"33e923439f00ebcecd4bd6b3aa3327095be2ff28-1720764656100","role":"recv","roomId":"348191387","sessionId":"33e923439f00ebcecd4bd6b3aa3327095be2ff28-1720764656100/348191387/w_lows4epyixz4/25daac87-0e50-48cb-8b0e-09ca17e03d90","sfuMessageId":"start","userId":"w_lows4epyixz4"},"timestamp":"2024-07-12T06:11:43.336Z"}"

Could you please help us here to solve this issue? BBB version is 2.6.10

Hello Jean,

Thank you for the response.

Stun configuration with freeswitch at "freeswitch/conf/vars.xml" has been used as per below details and screenshot. Actually in AWS,  Public IP of server is not there on server with any interface. it is mapped with local IP through Elastic IP.  So for SIP Registration, we have to use this configuration other wise SIP Registration has been failed.

<X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="stun-set" data="external_rtp_ip=stun:stun.freeswitch.org"/>
  <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="external_rtp_ip=44.222.41.176"/>

Please let me know your views/suggestions on this.

Regards,
Ashish Pandya

Hi,

I think you're in a different part of the documentation.
Have a look here and here. If you need to change the included URL of the stun server, you have to modify the /etc/bigbluebutton/turn-stun-server.xml as stated here.
Basically, you could setup your own stun/turn server, but you have to know what you're doing, and it could be time-consumig.
As of BBB 2.7 there's an inbuilt stun server. Try to set that up and see if you still get the errors.
Also, you could read what the stun/turn protocol is all about as well as the RFCs. Very interesting stuff!

Regards,
J.
