High memory usage, even when no meeting / conferencing sessions are going on - over 50%

That's fine. Linux will try to keep as much as an application in memory as possible and only page out when needed. If you have lots of memory, then you can expect your applications to keep more in memory.

This group bigbluebutton-users is more for end-user questions (such as how do I do X in BigBlueButton?). In the future, can you post setup/configuration related issues to bigbluebutton-setup, see
