Hi I'm just checking a feature with BBB in Canvas.

You can make someone a host pre-webinar/event and you can elevate someone to host during a webinar/event. In out use of BBB in Canvas this gives students the ability to end webinars for everyone (sometimes by mistake) and even eject the host (event creator).

Is there anyway to stop this, i.e give the creator or a named host or admin permissions above someone who is made host for a specific event or part of an event.

Thank you

Urgin

Students should not have the ability to end a session.  Students should be coming in to the BigBlueButton session as viewers

Are you using Canvas hosted by Instructure or your own Canavs server?

Regards,... Fred

Thank you Fred,

We are using BBB via Canvas. It is hard to track what is going on from logs as Teachers setup and run their own webinars, creating BBB events via Canvas. But we've had instances of both now where student end sessions or eject hosts. In some cases we've assumed it has been that students have been given host status "in session" but new BBB in Canvas features introduced last year means you can change the status of people before they enter.

If that is a feature and not something wrong with the global setup, that is fine but it would be good to know for certain so that we can advise teaching staff.
