How to avoid "green static" overlay in the video line on playback, when recording a session that involved screen-sharing?

Hello,

Since the most recent release of BBB (early March 2025), has anyone here used screen-sharing while they recorded their session, and then found later that the screen-shared portion(s) played back with a kind of "green static" interference in the video line? (The audio line is not affected.)

Here are some examples of what this looks like, from an actual video I recorded. The "green static" can interfere partly:

...or completely (this is from the same video as above):

The entire affected portion was about two minutes long, and it certainly interfered with clear viewing of the affected portion of the video on playback.

The only way to deal with this issue so far, has been to "replace" the "green-staticed" portion of the session with a static version of the content only, which is quite time-consuming, and then re-insert it into the video line of the raw video of the recording.

Please, can anyone share any strategies for avoiding this issue altogether?

Fred, can this issue be fixed in the next release of BBB?

Thank you everyone, and best regards,
Susan

Hi Susan,

This was an issue in BigBlueButton 3.0.0-3.0.3. In 3.0.4 (end of March) it was patched, see https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton/issues/22718
