Hello Fred and others,

I tuned in for your April 24th seminar for the first session. My friends/associates and I are happy users of
your work.  My homepage is at 71.171.86.190, if you want to take a look.  I used your password, demo3.jsp,
to put together my own homepage/landing page.  I am not a programmer, just years of learning on my own.
A friend and I have set up an asterisk server for my business, he is a freeswitch user, and a
big help. (He is also blind so is very interested in BBB accessibility functions.)

We have had conferences with USA, Spain, Peru, Columbia,Mexico,Bolivia, and others that
have had more than 10 participants at a time.  The users of BBB, my associates, are thrilled!
They came to me to find something they could use instead of skype and its built-in limitations.
(see attached jpg of recent conference)

We have already gone beyond the limits of skype and still growing.

My associates would like to be able to record the session.  Here is my dilemma,

On your demo page you have a "record" button (demo10.jsp).  It appears that you set this up
for a professor to logon and record a session, but their is no differentiation between a professor or a student.
Also "description" is required by all, instead of just the professor.
So this is really not usable in its current form for the recording of a session by a professor (admin) with a
group of students (clients) listening.  It really is for one person doing a demo recording only.

I have looked at the code and to fit my needs the following would be needed:

password logon for admin (professor) and client (student)
choice of session is already there
description for admin only, not for general public

Then on the playback:
admin functions only for publish, not publish, delete (I don't want general public to be able to delete recordings as you have in your demo.)

Should I wait for the .81 to become available or should I get started try to write my
own .jsp file to my needs?

Anything I should look at to jumpstart this project?  I feel like I am in over my head on writing a new
or editing the old scripts.  (This does not appear to be a cut and paste operation.)

Happy, but challenged with a new project,
Best wishes,
Gene

To set a meeting to be recorded all you have to do is add "record=true" to the meeting create call. For your other requirements you might want to look into the Wordpress, or Moodle integrations. If you still want to make your own custom frontend you will want to take a look at the API descriptions here, http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/API. That page covers everything the API can do. The API also won't be changing much in 0.81 so you wouldn't gain anything from waiting.

Hi Gene,

I would also add that you should checkout the recently updated WordPress plugin for BigBlueButton.  It will let you setup rooms for recording, as well as passwords for both the moderator and user.  See

The new WordPress plugin 1.3.5 works!

The previous WordPress plugin hosted on Hostmonster, did not work.

I tried updating to php 5.3 from 5.2, that changed the widget so that you

could see the choice of conference, but it would not connect to the server.

With the update, it worked on my first attempt.

Does voicebridge work to an asterisk extension work with the wordpress plugin?

It is working with my conferences created from my other frontend.

Thank you for the help.

www.eirwebconf.us is the wordpress frontend, that is now under construction.

Best wishes,

Gene

Nice.  There has been a lot of ongoing development with the WordPress integration ... glad to see it working for you.

Does voicebridge work to an asterisk extension work with the wordpress plugin?

There is no support for voice bridge number in the current BigBlueButton WordPress plugin, but I know the developers of it are looking at adding it to a future iteration.
