Hi everyone,

The 4th annual BigBlueButton World Conference is scheduled for June 25, 26, and 27 from 14:00 to 17:55 UTC.

This is an open invitation to anyone interested to join the live sessions and be part of the live sessions.  The conference is fully online and is hosted using BigBlueButton (of course!).  Use the following link to register:

What is this conference about?

BigBlueButton World is a global gathering of teachers, instructors, developers, commercial companies, educational organizations, and students to share knowledge and experience around the efforts to make quality online education accessible worldwide.

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual platform that provides educators with built-in tools for active learning and live analytics to increase learning outcomes for every student.

The BigBlueButton ecosystem has been growing rapidly in India, France, Germany, United States, and other countries due to its deep integration with popular learning management systems, such as Moodle, Canvas, Schoology, and others (both native and LTI integration).

What are the conference themes?

This conference will span three days. The themes include:

• Responsible uses of AI in education (no surprise here!)
• Pedagogy in the virtual classroom
• Administering and scaling BigBlueButton
• BigBlueButton’s plug-in architecture
• Integration with other educational tools (such as H5P) using the plugin

Overview

Day 1 will feature a keynote from John Filo on Harnessing AI: Transforming Education for a New Era. John Filo is an award-winning educator, speaker, and author who promotes equitable access to high-quality educational materials and experiences for all learners. Fred Dixon, co-founder of BigBlueButton, will also present the roadmap ahead for BigBlueButton.

Day 2 will feature a keynote from Martin Dougiamas on Open Education will Save the World. Martin Dougiamas is the founder of Moodle, past CEO of Moodle, a board member of Open Education Global, and the founder of the Open Edtech Association.

Day 3 will dive deeper into the technical aspects of BigBlueButton with presentations from the developer community, including tldraw (integrated into BigBlueButton), integration with H5P, and upcoming UI designs.

Altogether, these presentations highlight the impactful work being done within the BigBlueButton community and, for the platform, how improvements and integrations are helping to further our goal of building the best virtual classroom, measured in learning outcomes, for the world.

Keynotes are 50 minutes in length, and presentations are 25 minutes in length (including Q&A).

Visit

for more details and to register for any of the sessions.  Registration is free and all are welcome!

Regards,... Fred

Hi everyone,

A correction in the post (the spell checkers are sometimes not your friend).  The day 1 description should read

Day 1 will feature a keynote from Jon Fila on Harnessing AI: Transforming Education for a New Era. Jon Fila is an award-winning educator, speaker, and author who promotes equitable access to high-quality educational materials and experiences for all learners.

Sorry Jon -- my apologies!

Cheers,... Fred
