Hello!

I am following the installation guide to intall BBB for the first time and I am getting this error "E: Package 'haveged' has no installation candidate" when I use this command
sudo apt-get install haveged. The complete error is:

sudo apt-get install haveged
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package haveged is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'haveged' has no installation candidate

What can I do? If I continue with the steps, the command that install BBB does not work.

Regards

Marcos

Description-en: Linux entropy source using the HAVEGE algorithm
haveged is a userspace entropy daemon which is not dependent upon the
standard mechanisms for harvesting randomness for the system entropy
pool. This is important in systems with high entropy needs or limited
 user interaction (e.g. headless servers).
 .
haveged uses HAVEGE (HArdware Volatile Entropy Gathering and Expansion)
to maintain a 1M pool of random bytes used to fill /dev/random
whenever the supply of random bits in dev/random falls below the low
 water mark of the device.
 .
More information about HAVEGE is available at

Hi Fred,

The haveged is still giving me trouble:

root@cl-t072-256cl:~# apt-cache show haveged
N: Can't select versions from package 'haveged' as it is purely virtual
N: No packages found

In the other hand, the other command gave me a similar response:

root@cl-t072-256cl:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
# deb http://ubuntu.mirror.iweb.ca/ xenial main restricted

# deb http://ubuntu.mirror.iweb.ca/ xenial-updates main restricted

Hi Marcos,

Thanks for posting the output

> In the other hand, the other command gave me a similar response:

Similar, but not the same.  From our output of `apt-cache show haveged`, you can see that haveged is in the universe/misc

> Section: universe/misc

But in your sources.list, this repository is commented and not accessible to apt-get

> #deb http://ubuntu.mirror.iweb.ca/ xenial universe

Your Ubuntu installation is probably missing the "universe" repository.
