Hi Sergio,

It's more than Freeswitch

# Not Running:  red5 freeswitch OpenOffice Nginx tomcat6 or grails OpenOffice bbb-record-core
#       bigbluebutton failed to start: /usr/share/red5/log/bigbluebutton.log (red5)

None of the key components of BigBlueButton are starting.  Let's back up.

How did you install BigBlueButton (packaging or VM)?
Did BigBlueButton work after the install?

We can see you've made edits to config.xml -- can you make a backup of your edits and revert to the original version?  You can pull down a copy of the config XML from our demo server, see

Try reverting to the above config.xml and doing a

  sudo bbb-conf --setip <hostname_or_IP>
  sudo bbb-conf --clean

and let us know if that gets you going again.

Regards,... Fred

I've found the mother of the problems :) no enough free disk space. /var is overpopulated and grows everytime that bbb starts...

Yes, that would do it.  Free up some disk space and try restarting again.

To have BigBlueButton remove older files, update

  /etc/cron.daily/bigbluebutton

with the contents at

This is what we'll be using in 0.81.

Can you confirm you have, in fact, overwritten the file

  /var/bigbluebutton-default/default.pdf

with the updated presentation.  You can check through your web browser using the URL

  http://<host_or_IP>/default.pdf

We recommend you don't hand remove the files from record and playback.  There are subtle dependencies that may cause the record and playback processes to break or, as may happen in your case, regenerate all the files anew.

At the moment, you only have 16G for the root partition, and that won't store many recordings.  Recommend you either increase the size of root partition, or add another volume and map /var/bigbluebutton to that new volume.

Yes it works but if I go at http://<host_or_IP>/default.
pdf

But the slide is blank anyway and I get at first:

I don't know why I've downloaded even the config.xml from bbb site and rerun bbb-conf --setip

:-(

TIA

How are you creating the meeting?  And did you make other changes besides the config.xml?

At this point, I would revert the changes you've made until you back up to a working version of BigBlueButton -- one that allowed you to join without the 500 error.

Then, step-by-step, re-apply your changes and test each time along the way that you can join without error.  That way, you can narrow down the change that is the root cause of the error.

Finally I will reinstall. What should I prefer Ubuntu 10.04 or Ubuntu 12.04?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sergio,

Ubuntu 10.04 will server you well for BigBlueButton 0.80 (current release) and 0.81 (in development).

We'll move to Ubuntu 12.04 after the 0.81 release.

Regards,... Fred
