Hello all,
I tried many ways and combinations to succeed in deploying BBB.
On windows 7 OS installed BBB VM, at the very first instant it worked like magic, only problem was I was only able to use BBB demo on the same PC where VM is installed.
After doing lot of google, I removed VM and BBB and reinstalled again, this time VM is getting connected to internet only in NAT mode and not in Bridge mode.
secondly, if I browse the BBB with the respective IP, the page appears but demo dosent work.
Last one month trying ...as soon as I change from NAT to Bridge the internet doesnt work....
if I put it in Bridge mode it says, VMNET0 is not running or down .....
can anyone faced similar problem and could resolved?

Please help me Fred....

thanks
umesh

Hi Umesh,

You didn't have to reinstall the BigBlueButton VM.  Just just needed to change the settings for the virtual machine from NAT to Bridged, then within the VM

  sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

to get an new IP address from the DHCP router (and verify you did get an IP address).  Let's say the IP address was 192.168.0.220.  You need needed to tell BigBlueButton to use this new IP address

  sudo bbb-conf --setip 192.168.0.220

That's it.  If the network is working, you should be able to go to another computer.

If the network is not working, your VM will not have an IP address after setting to Bridged, in which case you need to check if you have, in fact, a DCHP server on your network to acquire a new IP address.

Regards,... Fred

Thanks Fred,
1. I setup the VM in Bridge mode, restarted.
2. From Virtual Network Editor, I found that Vmnet0 to Vmnet9 with IP assigned
3. All the config as shown below.

4. Now when I start BBB, The error message appears as "The Network Bridge on Device Vmnet0 is temporarily down".."The virtual machine may not be able to communicate with the host or with other machines on your network..."
5. After login, I get IP 192.168.38.128, but cant connect to internet and network..this is the pain area .
6. With this IP I can open first page of BBB, Once I click on API Demo, I get message as

404 Not Found

nginx/0.7.65

7. Now if I change VM from Bridge to NAT my internet works but the error of HTTP 404 remains Same and even I cant access on the LAN.
8. I have windows7 as OS and Win2008 Domain where DHCP server is installed, but VM must be taking only its internal DHCP IP.
9. I tried enabling and disabling the VMware Bridge Protocol on LAN and VMnet0 both with all possibilities.
I am very much confused, since I have updated and installed BBB using NAT, but according to the requirement why my VM is not working in Bridge mode, for connecting to LAN.....
Please guide ...very much frusted.....

thanks
Umesh
