We are using BBB in HK with users in China without issue but were wondering if anyone has managed to set up a server successfully within China?
The host (Aliyan) that we are trying has firewall and NAT issues that we cannot navigate so we cannot get WebRTC working.

Any advice or pointers would be great.

Thanks.

If you know that the server will never work with WebRTC you could change this property in config.xml to "false" and your users will go through the Flash audio by default.

Would you recommend using flash over WEBRTC?

Thanks Chad. Am aware of this but if possible would much prefer to use WebRTC as we have found it to be much clearer, less lag etc. and so wondered if anyone had any ideas on open servers within China.

Mark, couple of things that might improve connections.

1) You can try to reconfigure websockets to use 443 (lots of firewalls let traffic thru this port),
2) Setup a stun/turn server that may be able to relay media TCP where UDP is block in some of your customers networks.

Stephen

In almost all scenarios WebRTC will gives a better quality audio than Speex over RTMP (Flash), but WebRTC is a fairly new technology and some network configurations don't work well with the websockets and/or UDP traffic.

The big difference between the two audio paths is that WebRTC uses UDP and RTMP uses TCP and UDP is much clearer
