As mentioned I want to install BBB onto a QNAP TS-451 NAS Dual-core Intel® Celeron® 2.41GHz Up to 2.58GHz, upgraded to DDR3L RAM 8GB. It is Not a Quad-core.
Does it still meet the installation requirements?

This link takes you to its Specs  https://www.qnap.com/i/useng/product/model.php?II=143&event=2
Thank you  for any help you can provide..

Hi,

You are unlikely to be able to get this to run BigBlueButton natively,
because this NAS device runs an embedded Linux distribution (QTS 4.1).
We only support Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit for current releases of
BigBlueButton. It would also conflict with the web management
interface.

You could try running BigBlueButton in a virtual machine on the device,
but performance would probably not be very good. It may perform
acceptably for small meetings, but you would have to test it yourself
to see what it could support.

Thank you for your response Calvin I really appreciated it.
I had no Idea about the Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. I had to do some research online. From what I gather it's an open source OS?
You also mentioned that I could try running BigBlueButton in a virtual machine on the device, but that performance would probably not be very good. Why is that (so I can look for a better solution)?

The link below is a list of other QNAP Quad-Core NAS. If I have to do an upgrade to another model which of these would work run BBB?

From my experience, QNAP TS-451's have a hard time running the OS they came with, let alone anything else.

would any of the ones listed in the link below work? It is a list of other QNAP Quad-Core NAS. If I have to do an upgrade to another model which of these would work for running BBB?

Calvin's original reply applies to any of those options. They all run a custom OS so you won't be able to install BBB directly and you aren't likely to get very good results if you try and run BBB in a VM on them.

Ok thank you. And so what are other options I can do?

I don't deal with hosting at all, but I'm fairly certain most people rent a server from a 3rd party because they will have hardware that meets the required specs and have a large enough up and down bandwidth. What provider you go with varies a lot based on geographic location and budget.
