max bitrate video

Hi,

have not testet but what would be the MAX video bitrate for webcams I can set?

There is 800 defined as HD - a max framerate is not configured (so does that mean - unlimited?)

Can I make like bitrate 1000 ? OR would this be useless?

... as I got no answer to my question - we would like to share a physical whiteboard via webcam. And using the HD resolution (800kb) some text is simply not readable due tu low resolution / compression.

I have confgigured more but that did noch change the visual quality (at least from my test)

As far as I know these bitrate values are interpreted by the browser of the client. So, you can tell the browser to receive/transmit a 800kbit stream, but the real bitrate is being calculated depending on the current bandwidth etc of the client browser. So you could try to add a profile with a higher bitrate, but there is no guarantee that the resolution will be enough on the client side. But if bandwidth etc is enough the chances are good that you get a higher resolution.

As the resolution and bitrate parameters for screensharing fit your needs better, you could try the following workaround: Capture your camera with a third-party software (VLC or whatever) and share this window via screenshare function of BBB.

Hi,

I think that changing only the bitrate could not solve the problem because the resolution should be higher than HD.
Perhaps a possible solution could be to place another specific webcam in front of the physical whiteboard with a sufficient and maximum distance so that it does not affect the quality due to the resolution.

Hi,

Keep in mind that if you plan to record your session, the video recording will be 640x480 and even less if you have users with cameras. I would recommend to run some application which shows your camera in a separate window, and then share that window. Desktop sharing quality is much better by default than video, and is recorded separately.
