Okay, even after reading a few times I still dont get this straight.

Can I use greenlight as a frontend and use scalelite for the balancing?

In the example there is only moodle mentioned.

My idea was :
Install 1 Server with bbb and greenlight (already have one running) using bbb-install.sh

Install 2 more Server with bbb only (no Greenlight or Demo API) using install.sh

Install 1 more Server with scalelite (or can it be installed on one of the above?)

To switch your Front-End application to use Scalelite instead of a single BigBlueButton server, there are 2 changes that need to be made

  • BigBlueButton server url should be set to the url of your Scalelite deployment http(s)://<scalelite-hostname>/bigbluebutton
What would be the correct url?

I am wondering about the same solution too.

Yes you can use Greenlight as a frontend with Scalelite.

You would just have to rename the endpoint and the secret in the Greenlight .env file to point to Scalelite rather than a BBB Server

I am also looking for some guidance with this scenario.

I have my BBB node servers.  I have my Scalelite server.

Could someone help point me to how I would access the Greenlight .env file on to make the modification to the URL to point to Scalelite and the secret?  I have the Scalelite URL and secret, but I need some help locating where/how to modify the Greenlight .env file.

Thank you in advance!

Depending on where you have installed greenlight this varies. go to the
server you are using for the greenlight then look for the docker compose
for greenlight (it's in that directory in which you start it with
"docker-compose up -d").
In there you find the .env file too. Keep in mind that files starting
with . are hidden in linux so you have to look for them with the -a
parameter like `ls -la`.

vou can edit it with your favorite text editor nano beeing the default:
`nano .env`
Note: there should already be some content in that file so you if you
see an empty file. you probably don't have the right one.

I hope that helps

root@server:~/greenlight# pwd
/root/greenlight
root@server:~/greenlight# ls -la
total 28
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Apr 18 20:45 .
drwx------ 10 root root 4096 Apr 25 13:18 ..
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Mar 15 18:56 db
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 838 Apr 17 14:26 docker-compose.yml
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7860 Apr 17 14:24 .env
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 15 18:57 log
root@server:~/greenlight# nano .env

By default greenlight .env file is located in /root/greenlight/.env
You can edit it with command "nano /root/greenlight/.env" or "vim /root/greenlight/.env" depending on which text editor you have.

In the .env file modify those two lines:
BIGBLUEBUTTON_SECRET=
BIGBLUEBUTTON_ENDPOINT=

BIGBLUEBUTTON_ENDPOINT set to https://your-scalelite-hostname/bigbluebutton
BIGBLUEBUTTON_SECRET set to "LOADBALANCER_SECRET" value from "/etc/default/scalelite" file.

Find the greenlight directory

>ls -alt   ß will show the hidden .env

Edit this with LB url, and ne secret

Then  docker-compose down,  and then docker-compose up -d

Wait 2 mins, then login to greenlight, start a room and will will select one of your servers in cluster.

Stephen
