I have installed the beta BBB on a VPS (that uses openVZ). I have managed to create a meeting and I can join successfully (it has trouble sometimes from Firefox -- I'm not sure why on that one) using only "Listen". When I attempt to connect with a microphone it goes to Audio Test then says connecting... it never passes this point. I tried letting it wait, and it just doesn't connect.

I have tried the suggestion https://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/090InstallationUbuntu#Audio_not_working to make adjustments as there are many connections on my ifconfig. I have also destroyed my VPS and reinstalled thinking that I messed something up originally (I'm rusty with Ubuntu). I'm not sure what my next step should be.

You can test it at http://learn.taterkakes.com -- all the way to the bottom left - participant password TEST - moderator password TEST1234

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A giant thanks to Chad who informed me that my ports were still blocked. After a bit more troubleshooting through my error it's all working as it should! Thanks again! Although I thought I had the ports all opened properly I did not. I just needed an outside pair of eyes. *Although I did need the instructions from the link* I tried to switch back and it did not work. :)

I just talked with Lara after looking at the server and the audio issue is occurring because port 5066 is blocked. When 5066 is unreachable SIP.js (the WebRTC library that we're using) outputs an error message to the JavaScript console in the browser.

I'm going to look into adding some sort of feedback so the user isn't just stuck at "Connecting..." forever as others are likely to run into the same issue when setting up their servers.

Hi Madhukar,

You may have FreeSWITCH listening on port 5066, but something on your network/server is preventing incoming connections to that port.

$ telnet 206.72.193.223 5066
Trying 206.72.193.223...
telnet: connect to address 206.72.193.223: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host

Hi Madhukar,

If you don't know how to solve this, the contact your service provider makes sense.  You are paying them for a service, and some component between your server and the internet is blocking port 5066.

Hi,
I am facing the same problem,
WebRTC Socket test is failed,
telnet to the server:
Connected to XX.XX.XX.XX
Escape character is '^]'.
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
Sec-WebSocket-Version: 13

Connection closed by foreign host.

Should the port 5066 be open?

Regards
