I'm a newbie at this and is trying to find the best solution for my
moodle site. I have been trying other options such as Openmeetings,
but have been unsuccessful in it's installation. I came accross this
option and I was wondering if anyone could help in installing BBB on
Godaddy. I have both a shared hosting account and virtural dedicated
server.
My questions are:

1. Can BBB be installed on a shared hosting account? If yes, does
anyone have any experience doing so?
2. My virtual dedicated server is Centos 5. I notice that BBB is only
being supported on Ubuntu. Is is possible fo install Ubuntu on the
virtural dedicated server and then install BBB or do I install the
Centos version of BBB even though it is not support now?

Please help.

Thanks Fred,

So is it possible to install Ubuntu on a Centos Server so that I can
use the supported verision of BBB? Cause it looks like the Centos
version of BBB is not supported.

Sedessia,

Look at the attached url. It provides very good step by step
instructions on how to install BBB on your Centos 5 .x machine. Keep
in mind doing the install by this method will be your default http
site. AKA, it will hijack your apache configuration.
I have this setup running at our school on one Cntos 5.2
server ,bbb-064 version and runs fine. It does what we want it to
do,although it is 'behind' slightly in features as compared to the
newer versions of bbb.
This is quite time consuming but you will learn the inner workings of
BBB this way,at least I did :).

If you are wanting to install BBB, as everyone states here ,it should
be run on real hardware,as you are wanting to do,rather than a VM.
I wish I had access to a really powerful machine ( quad processor) to
see how the bbb-vm runs under several users logged in to see if it
would in fact work responsively. The bbb-vm install is so easy, and
small amount of time to do it.

Sedessia, you wont have much luck running BBB on godaddy's VPS..
These are shared boxes made for basic web hosting and cant handle the
audio/video streaming requirements of red5 and freeswitch.

Check out http://bigbluebutton.org/support for commercial support
solutions.

Would be glad to help you get a moodle/bbb solution running, we have
affordable hosting solutions.

Stephen
