Hi Nour,

We focus on a single release of Ubuntu for stability and testing.  We (the core developers) design, develop, package, and test BigBlueButton on Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit or 64-bit.

Hi Himanshu,

We *only* use Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit or 64-bit -- we haven't used, developed, packaged, or tested BigBlueButton 0.8 with any other release of Ubuntu.

As such, our 10.04 packaging won't work on 11.04.

Hi Fred,

Install the bigbluebutton on ubuntu 11.04 and its working fine.

Need some minor changes only.. If you allow me i can write the steps needed for ubunut 11.04.

Of course we can make an note that community is not providing support for ubuntu 11.04 but if any one needed they can use the steps as suggested.

Need your input please advise

Thank You

Hi Hiamanshu,

We really want to ensure folks get a BigBlueButton server running quickly.

We invest a large amount of time packaging and testing (and testing, and testing) BigBlueButton on Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit or 64-bit.  This gives us a well tested configuration, and allows us to spend the rest of our time working on BigBlueButton itself.

Please do share the steps, but also make clear that if the system administrator encounters problems and post to the mailing list for help with a linux distribution other than Ubuntu 10.04, we (the core developers) will always encourage them to install in Ubuntu 10.04.

Correct thats what i ment core team or community will not officially provide support on ubuntu 11 current version  compatibility is with 10.04 only ..

Steps will guide if any one needed.

as i feel in short future we need to take our effort to next lvl.

Thank You
Himanshu

Hi Nour

I noticed your sense of Urgency, and I hope I can help.

I can confirm that installing BBB on Ubuntu 10.04 is a complete snap. The install instructions are straight forward, just copy and paste into a terminal

In case your struggling with where to get the old LTS version of Ubuntu here is link to the ISO's for download

This is the path of least resistance, I urge you to take it ;-)

HTH
