Server Configuration for Android mobile App

Hi all,

it is said, that BB from 0.8 supports mobile Access, you only have to change the security salt.

When I start my local development server an call http://192.168.1.99/demo/mobile.jsp from a Web Browser I get the following result:

SUCCESSmobileSupportedThis server supports mobile devices.

When I try the same from my Android App and want to select a Meeting, the App returns "The server doesn't provide mobilr access

Using BBB local installation by Web Browser works fine, also the Anrdroid App on demo.bigbluebutton.org.

Is there anything I could have forgotten to configure?

Jurgen,

sudo vi /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/demo/mobile_conf.jsp

you need to add a passcode here... and then use it in the app.

demo.bigbluebutton.org has the default one already set, yours is
probably set to ""

Stephen,
I had the same problem of Jurgen and I set the passcode in my mobile_conf.jsp
Anyway, the Android app is telling that no mobile access is provided. I can access via web browser.
With the same Android device I can connect the demo of BBB server, but I can only chat and see the user list.
Where could it be the problem?

Hi Stephen,

thank you i worked - I already did, but after several tries I simply forgot to reboot.

Now I have a additional little Problem, the App works fine, only the voice module doesn't "Voice connection timed out".

It's running in an local Network, so Firewall Issues might not be a the first point to look for.

I configured the VM IL in a static way, so I had do doe some IP updates in the config.xml manually.

Do I need to change something at freeswitch or in a config file that the command "bbb-config --setip" might not have changed automatically?

Hello Maurizio,

in our case we also tried several times to insert our own pass code without success. 

At the end it really was the process of finding the right file, inserting and saving, restarting the server and putting the right code in the app.

The only problem we still have is that the Voice Connection could not be established during a "timeout".

There's some policy about the passcode? Despite I did same steps, edited the file, restarted the server, changed the passcode in android app, still it's impossible to fetch the meeting list from the server.

Yes, here this happens also on bbb demo classroom.

I think i know the voice timeout issue.

.8 production changed freeswitch so it was running on 127.0.0.1, so
you cant connect directly from external source by default, you need
to search this forum and make changes so freeswitch is listening
externally.

Then the voice should work.

Hi Stephen,

if you means to launch the bbb-conf setip command to change the ip address of the server, I did it.

The server is still reachable by remote and networked pc's using the named url.

No, you need to change freeswith config to listen external, and set
sip host in BBB, not done with bbb-conf command.

I just tried with mconf server and android app and all worked fine,  apart that my user was appearing twice in the list.
So, I'll try to set my freeswitch server.

Which script did you run?

You need to follow this instructions in order to make your FreeSWITCH server to listen the external IP.
