Hi Everyone,

We're working on finishing the testing 0.81-dev to release beta.  We are getting close.

We've just updated the build running on

Also, for those that have installed BigBlueButton 0.81-dev, see earlier post

you can update your 64-bit BigBlueButton 0.81-dev server to the latest build by doing the following

  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

  sudo bbb-conf --clean
  sudo bbb-conf --check

We've fixed two issues, see

We've also updated the version of red5 in this build, which now properly detects when users disconnect.

Please let us know if you find *any* problems in your tesing.

Regards,.. Fred

Hi Fred,

I'm reporting a bug with 0.81 layout manager.

When the moderator locks down the windows, attendees are still able to move each window once before they actually become locked down.
See the attached video for a demo.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Fred,

I'm reporting a bug with 0.81 page selector.

When a whiteboard tool is selected (eg pencil or shapes) the page selector (selecting from thumbnails) can't be used. In 0.80 the page selector works while using any tool (eg pencil), but in 0.81 you have to have the "hand" tool selected each time you want to change page.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Fred,

I'm reporting a bug with 0.81 instability when using "undo" on the whiteboard.

If you draw some annotations, then remove them all by clicking "undo" in quick succession, ALL participants become disconnected from the meeting the moment the last annotation is removed. This bug is highly reproducible (I've reproduced it many times now). See the attached video for a demo. It happens when "undo" is clicked a large number of times in quick succession to remove a large annotation.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Fred,

I'm reporting a bug with 0.81 shape tools.

When shapes are drawn in quick succession, some cannot be cleared from the whiteboard and persist through all pages and documents.
See the attached video for a demo.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy,

I'm trying to reproduce the disconnection bug that you're talking about, but it isn't happening for me on either the dev081 server nor my own personal VM build. I drew a bunch of squiggles with the pencil tool like in your video, but there was no disconnection on my end. Are there any other possible steps to reproduce the bug?

I can reproduce the other three bugs find though. I'll create some issues to track them.

Hello!

I was able to reproduce it.  This is how I did:

1. I just started annotating the current slide with random scribbles.
2. I, in rapid fire fashion, just kept clicking the undo button really fast.

And I got disconnected after all the annotations were gone.

Let me know if that helps at all.

You also may want to continue clicking very quickly the undo button even after the annotations are all gone. That may be the reason why you're unable to get the disconnection.

Hi!

I'm trying to upgrade our server from 0.8 to 0.81-dev following the instructions (https://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/wiki/081InstallationUbuntu#Upgrading_from_BigBlueButton_0.80) and getting an error during the "apt-get dist-upgrade"

am I missing something? the installation of ffmpeg went just fine, but I'm stuck here now.

Bruno,

Can you do

  sudo apt-get update

then try the step again.

Regards,... Fred

Hi Chad,

I did some more testing on the disconnection bug - try this:

- create a new meeting
- draw a square
- click undo twice in very quick succession

I've just tried this and it disconnected me 4 times in a row.
Thanks, Andy

Hi,

I'm having loads of problems posting to this group (trying to submit bug reports) - my last 11 posts (with attachments) were deleted immediately - is there an admin restriction regarding posts with attachments or multiple posts? Or should I be submitting these bug reports in another way? (My posts without attachments work fine).

Thanks, Andy

I still can't reproduce the disconnection bug, but it's possible I just can't click fast enough. Andy was able to show me on the server though.

I've created three new issues to track the bugs.

The layout bug is here, http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1520
The thumbnail bug is here, http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1521
The disconnect bug is here, http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1522

It turns out there was already an issue open for the whiteboard shapes persisting and it can be found here, http://code.google.com/p/bigbluebutton/issues/detail?id=1477

Hi Chad,

Ok that's great thanks. I think it must be double click speed - I can now get it to disconnect with just a double click of the "undo" to remove one shape.

I've since another two more small issues:

The first is a small issue with the 0.81 whiteboard tool bar. When the height of the presentation window is less than the height of the whiteboard toolbar, it's not possible to use the "fit to page" button because it's covered by the toolbar. See the attached video for a demo.

The second is an issue with 0.81 webcam initialisation (this may have already been reported). If a webcam is closed (by clicking the cross in the corner) during the few seconds of "video preview", then the camera can't be turned on again (the camera actually remains on, it just can't be seen). See the attached video for a demo.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy,

It's great that your uploading the videos; however, it might be a file size limit for attachments to Google Groups.

I'm the product manager for BigBlueButton.  If you post and e-mail me the videos direct, I'll review them and post follow-up messages.

Hi,

Just a quick question about a new feature in 0.81 which causes the relevant webcam window to glow green when the person is speaking.
This is an excellent idea for meetings which involve a large number of webcam users. However, this feature is not needed for one-to-one discussion or very small group teaching as the glow constantly jumps back and forth every few seconds and is quite distracting. This is an excellent feature for large groups, but can it be "turned off" in the config for one-to-one and small group meetings?

Thanks, Andy

Andy,

I am pretty sure the `glowing` can be turned off in the config.xml. Refer to the following line:

<module name="VideoconfModule" url="XXXXXXX" uri="XXXXXX" dependson="UsersModule" videoQuality="100" presenterShareOnly="false"controlsForPresenter="true" resolutions="320x240,640x480,1280x720" autoStart="false" showButton="true" showCloseButton="true" publishWindowVisible="true" viewerWindowMaxed="false" viewerWindowLocation="top" camKeyFrameInterval="30"camModeFps="10" camQualityBandwidth="0" camQualityPicture="90" smoothVideo="false" applyConvolutionFilter="false" convolutionFilter="-1, 0, -1, 0, 6, 0, -1, 0, -1" filterBias="0" filterDivisor="4" enableH264="true" h264Level="2.1"h264Profile="main" displayAvatar="false" focusTalking="true" glowColor="0x4A931D" glowBlurSize="30.0"/>

I am not sure whether `focusTalking` is for the glowing or for the `making-of-camera-window-larger-upon-focus` feature. However, i assume you could always change glowBlurSize to zero.
However, changing the config.xml is global as of right now, so EVERY meeting will have the glow turned off. I believe the new 0.81 API supports dynamic config.xml, allowing you to modify the glow-variables based on the client's needs (a small meeting or large meeting, etc). Hope it helps!

Regards,
Joseph Orlando
