Guys,

I had successfully tried installed and tested the BBB in the last several days, which is a great experience.  But there is a small thing bothered me: to enable or disable the audio/microphone, the user have to make the choices between "Microphone" and "Listen only" plus testing the audio echo again and again. In a normal setup, either 1, the user can mute his microphone to not let his audio to be heard, or 2, the moderator can mute the selected attenders to make the meeting room not too noisy.

My questions is are there anyways to disable/enable the audio behavior a little bit more simpler, eg. do it in the setup, or code, or API?

Thanks,

David

# Unmute users

# Gives moderators permisson to unmute other users

allowModsToUnmuteUsers=true

Settings.yml

autoJoin: true

    listenOnlyMode: true

    forceListenOnly: false

    skipCheck: false

There are configs for server and client.

Play with these, and then do a bbb-conf –restart

Stephen

Thanks Stephen,

Following your instruction I got the UnmuteUsers function works for the moderators and the Audio test is now skipped all right. But I am still thinking that it should work like:
1, For the first time enter the meeting room, it is all right to do the test to make sure things work.
2, When the attenders have been in the meeting room already, it is more convenient to enable/disable the microphone by just click on the small telephone icon directly, with the icon being slashed or not.

Any thought?

David

Even if they've connected before it still takes time to set up a fresh WebRTC connection so it will never be instant to reconnect. The option to select a different microphone is only available by saying that you can't hear yourself so by hiding that part you're removing the ability to change the microphone if there's two and the system is defaulting to their webcam mic. The microphone and listen-only connections also go through completely different paths. The microphone is handled by FreeSWITCH and the listen-only by an SFU component and we don't keep connections around that aren't in use.

Just for discussion, there are two setups.
1, for one-direction audio/video broadcasting, e.g. e-learning, the listener enters in Listen Only mode, he is not allowed to use microphone any way. SFU applied.
2, for bi-direction meeting, e.g. discussion groups meeting, attender enters in Microphone mode, during the meeting, he switch on/off microphone,  the Frontend(Greenlight) send little audio data to the server but keep the connection, FreeSWITCH applied.
3. the attenders still can change between 1 and 2 by exit and reenter the meeting again.

Of course item No.2 cost a little bit more resources, but the setups suit its purpose.

Hi Guyus, wondering if you could help me. I setup my second server. 1st one I setup worked great. Got a dedicated server for BBB. When I join a meeting, I get the option to select Mic or listen only. I select Mic, then I get the standard Echo test message, issue is this messge stays and never goes away giving me the two thumbs/up or down message to continue. Any ideas how I can resolve this.
Tried looking for the config files seggested but not sure where they are located at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
