hello guys,

how about switching from red5 server to nginx-rtmp-module.
I think it's more lighter, faster and stable free solution for streaming.
It's also support HLS (for viewing on iOS devices)

Hi Paulik,

The challenge would be that BigBlueButton runs a number of applications in red5, including bbb-video, bbb-sip, bbb-web, and others.  You can see them if you check the directory

  /usr/share/red5/webapps

on your BigBlueButton server.  These applications would not exist in nginx-rtmp-module.

Regards,.. Fred

Hi Fred,
thank you for quick reply!

Is it possible to rewrite these apps for nginx or by using some config params in nginx.conf do all stream jobs without any applications?

Hi Paul,

Of course, anything is possible.

However, we (the core developers) have no plans to move BigBluebtuton to use nginx for rtmp.  Our focus for the moment is to get 0.81-dev to 0.81-beta.
