Hello!
I need help setting up my Language Lab (Moodle plugin) to use the RED5 service which comes with BBB.
So far I've been using an external server (http://hosting-marketers.com/) for this purpose.

Plugin requirements (see attached image for reference):
  • Path to the RED5 server. My server IP opens the BBB demo page
  • Path to the RED5 folder
  • Name of folder for saved streams
  • Prefix

I mixed and matched some values, but I didn't work.

After reading some documentation I thought that the problem may be that RED5 is a child of BBB and can't operate without it, but this is just a thought.

Can I set up a separate port to access RED5 without compromising BBB's functionality?

Any advice, tips, documentation will be very helpful.

Thank you!

Hi Denis,

We use a version of red5 that we've adapted to use within BigBlueButton, see

The version of red5 that is in BigBlueButton 1.0-beta is also not the latest red5 (we tend to test a BigBlueButton release for a few months, then upgrade red5 when we move to development of the next version of BigBlueButton).

There is a Moodle plugin for BigBlueButton as well, see

We (the core developers) don't have any experience with OWLL oohoo (wow, what a name!).

Recommend you stick to OWLL oohoo says it needs for a configuration of red5.  Since red5 is open source, you don't need to take our build of red5 -- you can setup your own (again, we're quite a few commits behind in red5 master, so you may want to take the latest version).

Regards,... Fred
