Hello. In the University we want to use in assembly-hall and big
classrooms half professional video camera (maybe with zoom), but we
can't find in the documentation about BBB what kind of camera have to
be used in this process. Answer please, can we use professional (half
professional) camera for BBB, and what models of video cameras can we
use?

Hi Alex,

We (the core developers) haven't tried professional cameras; however, we use the Microsoft HD lifecams and they provide very good picture.

No doubt if you hook a higher quality webcam (one that can pan ad zoom), you'll get similar quality.

It has to be accessible via the flash interface. Try using bigbluebutton in the classroom, then click the camera button, and if it shows up in the camera settings dialog, then you can use it.

I have another question.
Do BBB can play IP camera on video dock?

Hi David,

The limitation is any camera must be accessible to Flash.  It can't be a remote IP camera; rather, you need to have it connected directly to your computer and visible to Flash as a camera source.

You can also try installing ManyCam as a proxy to the camera interface should you have any troubles with it
