Hi Everyone,

We've made a number of updates to the desktop sharing applet in 0.81-dev that slightly improves the screen refresh.  The applet is now properly sign with a certificate from BigBlueButton Inc.

For more information on the updates, see

Thanks to Ralf Sippl for his contributions of implementing the SVC 2 and other optimizations to reduce bandwidth in the applet.

The applet is also backward compatible with 0.80, so you don't have to wait until 0.81-beta.

If you want faster desktop sharing with a properly signed applet -- and help us test -- do the following:

1.  Login to your BigBlueButton server via ssh

2.  Got to the /var/www/bigbluebutton/client directory

cd /var/www/bigbluebutton/client

2.  Rename your existing desktop sharing applet

sudo mv bbb-deskshare-applet-0.8.jar bbb-deskshare-applet-0.8.jar_old

3.  Download the new applet

4.  Rename the new applet to the same name as the applet in 0.80

  sudo mv bbb-deskshare-applet-0.8.1.jar bbb-deskshare-applet-0.8.jar

Try sharing you desktop.

You can tell your running the new desktop sharing applet if you share a region and the 'start' button appears in the center of the blue box (not in the bottom left).  If you still see the start button in the bottom left, try clearning your cache before trying again.

Let us know how it works and whether you find any problems.

Regards,... Fred

We're still getting a Block/Do Not Block warning when logging out of a meeting.  It is gone from setting up the screen share.

The bigger issue is it appears to have broken our Matterhorn integration.

Hi Quang,

Can you post the output of the Java console when you attempt to start desktop sharing.
