I very often find this requirement to be nonsense. You only need real
time communication for active participation, but once you reach a
certain size, letting people talk does not scale anymore. You should
accept questions via chat, let moderators read them out loud, and that's
it. For a one-sided talk with a couple of speaker and lots of silent
viewers you do not need sub-second delay. Invite all planned or
potential speakers to the meeting, and let all other participants
followed via stream and chat. Low latency streaming has a delay in the
2-4 second range and can serve thousands of viewers with moderate
hardware. If that's real-time enough for twitch streamers actively
participating with their community, then it's real-time enough for
whoever makes those unreasonable demands.
